Panic attacks are usually a case of having a phobia of past panic attacks. You may have experienced one in a specific situation, time or place, then that worry of having another one when you are in the same situation can trigger a panic attack again. This is called pre-anxiety. It is completely different for everyone but the common theme is that the panic attack will feed upon itself, creating an awful cycle that is hard to break.

Experiencing a panic attack can be very frightening and the memory can impact on your normal day to day life, as the worry of having another one can cause a lot of stress and anxiety. Typical symptoms of a panic attack include your mind racing and full of worries, a fast heart beat and palpitations. You may have also experienced dizziness, light headedness or nausea, or you may have felt overwhelmed with feelings of anxiety. These are caused by the effects of adrenaline and cortisone on your body which drive your 'fight' or 'flight' response.
